Резюме: | Good article, well thought through.
It's been a long time now that neither the US's word, nor its signed agreements, have any meaning, trustworthiness, or reliability. In addition to the 2 agreements reneged on you describe above there is also the Anti-Ballistic Missile treaty with Russia that the US withdrew from unilaterally in 2002. Another one of Bush jr.'s brilliant moves.
Furthermore, after the collapse of the Soviet Union the US reassured Russia that Nato would not expand east. In practice the opposite happened, with all the former SU satellites now a member of Nato, and Nato straining to get Ukraine roped in as well. Plus all sorts of missile systems are being placed on the border with Russia as part of the encirclement of Russia. Not that it will get the US anywhere.
Back to Iran. From the beginning Trump had decided he wanted to put an end to the nuclear deal, because Netanyahu called it a bad deal; in fact 'yahu called it that before he even knew the details, probably because he is 1 of the few clairvoyant people in the world. That same clairvoyance made him predict that if Iraq would be invaded & democracy brought there, the Middle East would be such a better, more livable place. Thus he pushed for invasion, with the brilliant results we now have.
But his arrogance does not allow him to admit when he is/was wrong, so, relying on his clairvoyance once more, after renewed unjustified sanctions, 'yahu is pushing Bush jr.'s worthy successor to renege on the Iran deal so that Iran can be attacked "legitmately".
But, as Mr. Handjani points out, things might not work out the way the clairvoyant & the buffoon-in-chief anticipate. This time the EU & the rest of the world have a different opinion & will not follow those brilliant "leaders". Interesting times ahead. |
