She persuaded some of the biggest names in theatre of the past 20 years to engage with ideas, people and writing from abroad. As international director of the Royal Court theatre in London, Elyse produced major plays such as Vassily Sigarev’s Plasticine, Anupama Chandrasekhar’s Free Outgoing, Natal’ya Vorozhbit’s Bad Roads, Dalia Taha’s Fireworks, Liwaa Yazji’s Goats, and My Name Is Rachel Corrie, edited by Alan Rickman and me and based on the writings of the American protester killed by an Israeli military bulldozer in Gaza in 2003.
